Jason Mraz is an artist with a social conscience. Not to say that Mraz is a political activist-artist in the mold of the recently departed Pete Seeger; Mraz is more a philanthropist who often throws his celebrity weight behind worthy charities. That being said, the artist is no shrinking violet when it comes to worthwhile socio-political causes. It’s simply a matter of being a musician first and a facilitator second. Quite appropriate given that his effectiveness as the latter depends greatly on his success as the former.
